We are all different when it comes to dealing with our extra pounds. Depending on your age, sex, height, weight and daily activity, your calorific needs will not be the same as another person. A good tip to start off a weight loss programme correctly is to know your daily calorie needs in order to adjust your diet accordingly. This means you can calculate the difference between your calorific needs (i.e. the number of calories you need to meet your calorie expenditure) and the number of calories you actually consume each day. Let's take a simple example: imagine your calorific need is 2000 calories per day and what you eat is 3500 - the difference will be 1500 calories in overconsumption. These 1500 calories are going to be stored by your body and you'll gain weight. In the same example, if you only ate 1500 calories, then your body would have had to draw 500 calories from your existing stock and this would mean you would lose weight. So... you now know what you have to do: watch your daily calorific intake!
